4x4

Many people complain about 4 x 4 or large engine sized vehicles on the
road.

With increased sales of these vehicles are people complaining because of
their size, pollution or it is a way of getting extra tax money.

If these vehicles were to convert to gas conversion or bio-fuel would the
views be the same.

I believe that it only costs about £2,000 to convert from petrol to gas
with savings on Road Tax, insurance and of course fuel.

Why don't the manufactures of these vehicles do this?

Yes it is better to walk, cycle or use Public Transport, but these options
are sometimes not an option.

How many times have you followed a bus or coach that is pouring smoke and
fumes out of it's rear end.

Do we look at it rationally

Good point. I totally agree that it is possible to make vehicles of all sizes more eco friendly. I think we should always look at these things pragmatically.

But the problem is, people often become very irrational about these things. They see a 4x4 and assume it is bad for the environment and therefore the owners must be selfish people who hate the planet. I think we all need to look at these things with a bit of logic!

A perfect example that I saw the other day was an environmentalist who was protesting about pollution from a power station and then jumped into her 25 year old VW Bettle. I mean, come on! If you really care about the environment, buy yourself a new, low polluting, car, or better still, a bike!
